Myofascial Release
This alternative therapy is useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles. This technique is usually incorporated for a short time with the spinal adjustment. Our philosophy is “Muscle is attached to bone, and muscles move the bones; therefore, muscle/ fascia integrity must be addressed.” WARNING: This can be very painful, for a very short duration.
Dr. Mary Jo is a certified 200 hour Yoga instructor and she incorporates many stretches designed to help with neck and shoulder problems, lower back pain, hip problems, and knee problems. Many of these stretches can be done in a chair, if the floor is unavailable.
She is available for personal instruction to her patients.
